Following a multi-car collision that shut down Western Boulevard’s eastbound lanes for hours, a woman has died. The victim of the deadly collision that occurred Tuesday afternoon close to North Carolina State University has been identified as Wanza Cole, 62. The 62-year-old allegedly ran a red light at Dan Allen Drive and failed to stop, setting off a domino effect with other automobiles that were already stopped at the junction.
In an attempt to save her life, first responders had to chop off the top of her car. Cole was traveling east on Western Boulevard in a 2019 Honda Accord around 2:18 p.m., according to the police. The collision occurred close to downtown Raleigh, on Dan Allen Drive. An Audi Q3 traveling east on Western Boulevard at the intersection of Dan Allen Drive was stopped at a red light.
