Actress Suzanne Shepherd was announced dead today, Saturday. She died on Friday, the 17th of November 2023. Suzanne was 89 years old at the time of her passing. She possessed an immense presence and a larger-than-life personality, roaring with vitality and embracing life to its fullest. Suzanne, the first wife of David Shepherd and mother of Kate and the late Evan (who passed away in 2011), was a distinguished teacher, actress, director, and improviser.

After completing her studies at Bennington College, Suzanne Shepherd further honed her craft under the guidance of Larry Arrick, Herbert Berghof, and Sanford Meisner. Over the past 43 years, Suzanne has dedicated herself to teaching and coaching actors, holding positions on the faculty of notable institutions such as Trinity Square Conservatory, Hartman Conservatory, the Berghof Studio, and her studio in New York City.
Suzanne’s directorial experience spans prestigious venues including the Nederlander Theatre, Dallas Theatre Center, Trinity Square Repertory Theatre, Steppenwolf, Ensemble Studio Theatre, the Whole Theatre, and the Market Theatre in Johannesburg, South Africa.
