Samantha Peeler Gaffney SC 1 killed, 5 injured in three-vehicle crash on US 501 in Horry County

Samantha Peeler Death: 23-year-old Samantha Peeler has sadly passed away. She died on Monday 15th May 2023 in a deadly three-vehicle accident on US 501. She was pronounced dead at the scene. According to the information provided by the Horry County Deputy Coroner Patty Bellamy, Samantha Peeler, age 23, who was a front seat passenger in one of the automobiles, passed away at the scene of the accident. She hailed from the town of Gaffney. According to Master Trooper Gary Miller, an investigation into the accident that occurred at 4:15 p.m. on U.S. 501 near Pee Dee Road was conducted by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

How did the accident happen?

According to Miller, a Chevy Equinox with two people inside was driving east and attempting to cross U.S. 501 at the time when it collided with a Dodge Ram and then a Dodge Journey that was driving north on the interstate. All three vehicles were moving in the same direction. After that, the Equinox went over the middle of the road and collided with a tree. Both the driver and the passenger were transported to a nearby medical facility. Peeler was one of the three people that were riding in the Dodge Ram at the time.

According to the police, the lone occupant of the Dodge Ram did not sustain any injuries that are considered to be life-threatening, while the other two persons in the car were sent to the hospital. The investigation is being conducted by the highway patrol. She was the daughter of Gaffney residents Leslie Wayne Peeler and Lisa Cobb Peeler, and she was born in Gaffney. She was a graduate of Gaffney High School, worked for Newark, belonged to Peace Free Will Baptist Church, and went to worship services at Rock Solid Church.

Surviving in addition to her parents is a brother, Jacob Peeler of the home; a sister, Leslie Stanford (J.T.) of Gaffney; paternal grandparents, Butch & Nita Cobb of Gaffney; special nephews, Jaden Thomas Stanford and Hunter Wayne Stanford; her boyfriend, Hunter Gibson of Blacksburg; special friends, Carly Goble, Marissa Turner, Kayla Peeler Davis, Madisyn McCullough, Katherine Cooper, Hunter Bright, Craig Patterson, and Austin Goode. She was preceded in death by grandparents, Margie Cobb, Herbert “Rock” Peeler and Brenda Hughey.

The family will receive friends from 12:00PM until 1:45PM on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Rock Solid Church. Funeral services will follow at 2:00PM at the Church with Reverend Holden Poole, Reverend Chuck Thornton and Reverend Ray Glist officiating. Interment will be on the family property, 276 Lake Cherokee Road, Gaffney, SC 29340.
