A man from Freeman, S.D., has been identified as the individual who lost his life in a single-vehicle accident early Friday morning north of Lesterville, S.D.
The incident occurred as a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica was traveling eastbound on 295th Street, and the driver, Michael Dossett, 31, of Rapid City, lost control on the gravel road. Subsequently, the vehicle entered the ditch and rolled.
Tragically, the 24-year-old male passenger, Carlos Ramirez, lost his life at the scene, having not been wearing a seatbelt. Dossett sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a Sioux Falls hospital. The status of Dossett’s seatbelt usage remains unknown.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is actively investigating the crash, with the Yankton County Sheriff’s Office, Yankton County Fire Department, and Yankton County Emergency Medical Services present at the scene.
