According to a news release issued by the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at approximately 12:40 a.m. when the driver of a 2005 Honda on southbound Highway 29/128 north of Ehlers Lane lost control of the vehicle for reasons that are unknown and it swerved southwest.

After colliding with a power post and then a tree, the vehicle came to rest on its wheels pointing in the direction of the north. After 15 minutes, the driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, as reported by the highway patrol.
