Who was George Rongos?
Rongos immigrated to the United States from Greece in 1954. He spent almost 30 years at the now-defunct Slater Steel before retiring and starting George’s International Market.
When Rongos’ two sons bought the company in 1997, he passed the store down to them. The supermarket is near the intersection of Broadway and Taylor Street.
