Dr. John Durkin Obituary: Philadelphia PA, MMA Science Teacher

Dr. John Durkin Obituary, Merion Mercy Academy Science Teacher and Protein biochemist Dr. John Durkin has died. He passed away sadly on Thursday 9th November 2023 at the age of 66. He was announced dead through a Facebook post made by the school that says “With heavy hearts, we are sharing the sad news of the passing of beloved faculty member, Dr. John Durkin”. The circumstances surrounding the actual cause of Dr. John Durkin’s death have not been revealed at this time.

Dr. John Durkin earned his Ph.D. in Biophysics from Harvard University and a B.S. in Physics with high honors from Case Western Reserve University. His academic journey included a four-year tenure as a Federal Junior Fellow at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research from 1974 to 1978 and a two-year stint as an Academic Tutor at Case Western Reserve University from 1976 to 1978. Subsequently, he served as a Postdoctoral Associate at Weill Cornell Medical College from 1986 to 1987.
