David Thom is President of IBI Group Inc. and IBI Group, responsible for providing executive leadership with a particular focus on managing and leading the firm’s multidisciplinary teams of professionals.

David Thom death was confirmed dead by Bob Ransford via a tweet:

So sad to learn Saturday of the sudden passing of my friend David Thom. David was a visionary business leader who led IBI Group in going public +/-20 years ago growing it into one of North America’s largest architectural firms -now part of Arcadis. David was a superb architect.

Who was David Thom?

David M Thom is a resident of Vancouver, British Columbia, and the former President of IBI Group Inc. As President of IBI Group Inc. and IBI Group, David Thom is responsible for providing executive leadership focused on overseeing and directing the company’s dedicated, multi-disciplinary team. Planning and designing complex projects including architecture, transportation, and planning are his areas of expertise.

He has been responsible for many important urban development projects in Canada, the United States, and other countries, including public-private partnerships and private finance initiatives. Mr. Thom joined the Company in 1975 after graduating from the University of Toronto in 1974 with a Bachelor of Architecture. He is a fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC) and the American Institute of Architects (AIA).

He served as a trustee of the IBI Income Fund from 2004 to 2011 and as a member of the Board of Directors of IBI Group Inc. from 2011 to 2022. David was a great man known for his extraordinary intelligence and agility. He faces challenges head-on, fearlessly, from waterspouts to bees.
