Who was David L. “Cookie” Cook?
David was born in Charleston, WV on March 13, 1942, and moved to Oak Ridge, Tn. at the age of two where his Dad was employed with Union Carbide during the Manhattan Project. Growing up in Oak Ridge was childhood like no other and David enjoyed every minute. He was the outdoorsman from his first step and cherished the lifelong friends who help create his wonderful memories.
Books were not his favorite part of a school, but he enjoyed the sports, and participated in playing football at Jefferson Jr. High and for the Oak Ridge Wildcats coached by Jack Armstrong for whom the stadium is named. For the last 51 years, he has been married to that coach’s daughter, Sally Armstrong Cook.
