Clayton Lehmann Obituary: University of South Dakota History Department Professor Clayton Lehmann has died. He passed away on Thursday 16th November 2023 after being involved in an accident leaving family, friends, and his entire students in shock. He was announced dead on Friday through a publication that reads “Dear History Community, It is with deep sorrow that we share the news that Professor Clayton Lehmann of USD’s Department of History passed away last night”. He was very committed to whatever he did. Being around him was a key to happiness because he had a way to always make everyone happy.

Professor Lehmann, a distinguished scholar, has an extensive academic background that has significantly contributed to his illustrious career. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in comparative literature, history, and Greek from Augustana College in 1978. Subsequently, he pursued his Master of Arts in ancient history and classics at the University of Maryland in 1980, followed by a Doctor of Philosophy in history from the University of Chicago in 1986.
