He was announced dead by the Kansas City Jr. Blues Rugby Club in a social media publication that read “Today, it is with a deeply saddened heart that we say a heartfelt goodbye to a true legend, Chuck McKeon, who left an indelible mark on the Kansas City Junior Blues and Blues Men’s Rugby Club.”

According to a fundraising page organized by son Erin McKeon, Chuck passed away from suicide. “Everyone who knew and loved our father knew that he was battling demons. On October 31st, he lost the war. Who was Chuck McKeon?
Maxine McKeon and the late Charles “Big Chuck” McKeon had a beloved son in Charles Michael McKeon Pisces. Chuck attended St. Pius X before completing his undergraduate studies at Rockhurst University and then going to law school at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Chuck was born and raised in Riverside, Missouri. He started his legal career in Jackson County at the prosecutor’s office before entering private practice, where he spent more than 35 years.
In addition, Chuck had a second vocation as a “professional gambler,” and he was frequently spotted at various casinos in the city to bet on sports and play video poker. Chuck’s greatest interest in life was rugby. Throughout his adult life, he has been a rugby player and coach for the Kansas City Blues and Jr. Blues.
It was without a doubt his favorite activity and the location of some of his most treasured memories. He was able to travel the world and form lifelong friendships thanks to rugby. Chuck may have known you for forty years or only forty minutes, but no matter how long you spent with him, he would make it unforgettable. He was one of the funniest people you would ever meet and a well-known practical joker.
