Theresa Bontiti Death – Theresa Cachuela, also known as Bunny Bontiti, was fatally shot by her estranged spouse near Pearlridge Center. Cachuela was having a meeting with her mother, Lucita Ani-Nihoa. The suspect was identified by the police as Jason Cachuela, 44, who fled the scene and was subsequently found dead by suicide in Waipahu.
However, he repeatedly threatened suicide in the days leading up to the murder, and victim Theresa Cachuela obtained a temporary restraining order against him for menacing her. Theresa Cachuela detailed the onset of dreadful conduct on December 6. Thersa was a mother of three, including the 8-year-old who was with her at the time of the incident. Cachuela, 33, was a beauty entrepreneur and social media influencer.
She wrote on that day that her estranged spouse continued to “make suicide threats in my presence and in front of my children.” “He escorted me to Waikiki by himself while brandishing a knife to his neck, which terrified and traumatized me.”
He confronted her at home once more the following day; she dialed 911 and reported that police conducted a wellness check. “Jason was already in the garage, hiding under my car, the following morning, December 8; when I saw him, I hurried into the house, while my son ran down the road.”
This prompted her to make a second call to the police and file the TRO, which was promptly granted. Additionally, the TRO states that the suspect’s Waipahu residence contains firearms. Notwithstanding the threats, court documents indicate that the couple reached an agreement at a hearing held two days ago that he would maintain a distance from her while maintaining visitation rights with their children.
