Barnegat Township, Ocean County, NJ stabbing: 2 dead, police heavy, schools on lockdown

Barnegat Township stabbing investigation – Barnegat Township, New Jersey police are investigating the stabbing deaths of two people Thursday morning. The Stafford Township area school campus was immediately located as law enforcement agencies investigated the incident, according to law enforcement agencies.

Two people were reportedly found dead in the area of Bengal Blvd and Lincoln in Barnegat Twp. School campuses in the area have been ordered to shelter in place out of an abundance of caution. According to investigators at the scene, the suspect involved has been identified as a Hispanic male, wearing all-black clothing and carrying a black backpack. The unnamed suspect was last seen walking in Lincoln near Barnegat High School and Barnegat Elementary School.

Ocean County Sheriff – OC Sheriff Alert: Please stay away from the area of Bengal Blvd and Lincoln in Barnegat Twp due to police activity. As of the time of publication, the Barnegat Township School District has not released any official details about the incident.

Following the incident, the Stafford Township Police Department released the following statement; “Out of an abundance of caution, the Stafford Township Police Department is recommending that all schools within the Town of Stafford be closed due to the incident that occurred in Barnegat Township “Shelter in Place”. Please do not respond to the school to pick up your children as they are safe! Please ensure the safety of our community and children is our number one priority. We will update our school and social as information is received on the media platform.
