53 year old woman shot dead in “targeted attack”,

According to a Police report – The murder of a woman who was shot dead in Wirral was a “targeted attack”, police say as they appeal for help to trace the movements of a car seen at the time of the shooting.

In the early hours of Sunday, October 30, Merseyside Police were called to a home in Moreton, Wirral, in response to a report that the woman’s body had been discovered.

A police spokesperson said the 53-year-old woman, who has not been officially identified, died at the scene after suffering a gunshot wound to the chest.

A 79-year-old man who knew the victim was detained on suspicion of murder but later freed under investigation while authorities continue their investigations.

Anyone who witnessed the incident on Meadowbrook Road at around 1:45 a.m. is asked to call the police.

“We are quite open-minded at this moment,” said Detective Superintendent Sue Coombs.

Police also appealing for anyone who saw a dark vehicle with up to three people inside, in the area at the time. It was later found burnt out on Garden Hey Road.

The woman has not yet been formally identified but her next of kin have been notified, police said.

Investigations are still on.
